Fitzgerald Field House
Named for former chancellor Rufus Fitzgerald, the Fitzgerald Field House was once the home of Panther basketball and still holds a special place in the hearts of Pitt fans.
Although basketball has now moved to the nearby Petersen Events Center, Fitzgerald Field House still serves as the home for several Pitt sports, including volleyball, gymnastics, wrestling, and indoor track and field.
With a capacity of 6,800 seats, it has housed such events as the NCAA Northeast Regional Gymnastics Championships and several Big East Volleyball Championship events.
When the track and courts are not in use for sporting events or classes, students with valid Pitt ID cards are able to use them.
Trivia tidbit: Famous University of Pittsburgh men on the basketball court include Charles Smith, Jerome Lane, and Eric Mobley.
