Wesley Posvar Hall
Posvar Hall houses the School of Education, the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, the University Center for International Studies, the Social Sciences Departments, and the undergraduate College of Business Administration.
At 74,695 square feet, its floor area is equivalent to that of the Cathedral of Learningin other words, you could fit the Cathedral into Posvar Hall. Needless to say, it is the largest classroom building on campus.
The building is on the site of legendary Forbes Field, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1909 to 1970. Babe Ruth hit his last two home runs at the ballpark. The actual home plate from Forbes has been preserved in the floor of Posvar Hall, embedded in glass. A commemorative plaque mentions the last two games played on the fielda double-header against the Chicago Cubs. The Pirates won both games, 4-1 and 3-2.
