Schenley Quadrangle
Schenley Quad contains eight of the University's 11 residence halls: Holland, Brackenridge, Bruce, McCormick, Amos, and the three Litchfield Towers.
Holland and Amos are all-female dorms; Amos is all sororities. Brackenridge, Bruce, McCormick, and Amos offer suite-style living (i.e., a living room, kitchen, bedrooms, private bathrooms), and are mainly for upperclassmen. Suites house three to eight people, except for Amos suites, which are larger. All residence halls on the University of Pittsburgh campus are wired for Internet connection. We like to say we have "a port for every pillow."
The buildings in Schenley Quad used to be the Schenley Apartmentsa residence for well-to-do Pittsburghers. Built in 1924, these apartments became part of the University in 1956. Forbes, Lothrop, and Sutherland residence halls are located in different areas of the campus, as you'll see later in this tour. Lothrop is near the University’s medical center; Forbes is located further down Forbes Avenue, and Sutherland is near our athletic facilities.
The Campus Book Center is located in the Quad at street level on the Fifth Avenue side of the complex. Fifth Avenue also has a PNC Bank, which provides students with banking services right on campus; the ID Center; and the Parking Office.
